STYLE INSPIRATIONS FOR GENTS
SEVEN THINGS THAT DEFINE A TRUE GENTLEMAN
Being a true gentleman is all about having a combination of good dress sense, good manners and quality lifestyle. It is a lifestyle choice that one has to commit to.
If your grandfather or father didn’t teach you about the core traditions of true gentlemen, it’s likely you will never know everything it takes to become a real gentleman. Why? Because to learn how to be a gentleman, you need to see how a gentleman lives and emulate the lifestyle.
The saying: “A gentleman is born, not made” can’t be farther from the truth.
The good news – Everyone can learn how to be a gentleman if you choose to become one and stay committed to it.
In order to become a gentleman, you need someone to look up to, and if that someone is neither your father nor grandfather don’t sweat, you can learn.
Before actually taking on the journey of committing yourself to the gentleman lifestyle, you should know that it’s more than a nice suit and a beautiful pair of shoes.
Here are 7 basic things that define a true gentleman.
NUMBER ONE: KNOWING YOURSELF
This is the hardest part. You should know yourself. Identify your weaknesses and your strong sides. This is the first step and it should be done while going through the whole process. For some people, this step might take their whole life. If you can’t admit your weak sides to yourself ask someone that you trust who is brutally honest to point them out to you.
For your weaknesses, accept them and either live with them (if not necessary for your goals in life) or learn how to improve and be better (if it’s required for the attainment of your fundamental goals in life). For your strong sides, utilize them more often in your life, business, career, passion and in your pursuit of success.
NUMBER TWO: STRONG CHARACTER
Developing a strong character is something that will not only help you with becoming a gentleman but also will get you far in life. It doesn’t matter if you want to improve in your career or pursue a better relationship with your loved one, strong character is charismatic and people tend to be attracted to people that know what they want.
A good way to start strengthening your character is to create something that is out of your comfort zone and become good at it. Set high goals for yourself and conquer them to prove to yourself that you have a strong character and nothing can make you stop after you’ve set what you want to accomplish.
NUMBER THREE: MANNERS
Manners are the foundation of a gentleman. Opening doors, greetings, talking, behavior and everything else that will make you stand out from the crowd. The basics like how to hold cutlery and how to make good first impression, you should know by now.
But one thing that makes a gentleman stand out from other men is: A gentleman treats everyone with respect.

NUMBER FOUR: KNOWLEDGE
Simply put your knowledge is your secret weapon. Read books and educate yourself. With a simple Google search, you can find great books on personal development. It’s pretty easy to get your hands on knowledge these days. Here are my top five (5) books that you should read:
- The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene
- How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie
- The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
- “The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich” by Tim Ferriss
- “Think and Grow Rich” by Napolean Hill
NUMBER FIVE: TASTE & STYLE
There is nothing worse than a man with no taste. You should develop an appreciation for the fine things in life. Even if you can’t afford an $10,000 wrist watch or $100,000 luxury car, nothing stops you from enjoying life once in a while.
Save up on money and once in a while go on a nice date in a nice classy restaurant with your wife or girlfriend.
NUMBER SIX: ENTOURAGE
This is a pretty harsh topic to talk about, but you need to choose the people you network and relate with.
The saying: ‘’If you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room” applies 100% here.
If you don’t learn something new and useful every day from the people you are surrounded with you should find new people you spend your day with. If your friends stop you from growing personally and becoming a better man, then you should consider dropping them.
NUMBER SEVEN: CLOTHES & GROOMING
Clothes are an important aspect, but at the end of the day, dressing well in nice clothes alone doesn’t make you a gentleman. You need to also take care of your personal appearance and be your best every day.
That means showering every day, wearing a nice cologne and deodorant, brushing your teeth, grooming your beards [if you have beards], combing and brushing your hair etc. You must also wash your clothes often, iron them and keep them neat.
From today, Choose to be a True Gentleman.
I am aware that improving yourself doesn’t happen overnight but if you are serious about improving your sense of style and becoming a classy modern gentleman it’s possible once you’ve made that choice.
I will propose you start gradually, following these rules, correcting your mistakes when you do otherwise and in a short while, it would become a lifestyle.
One last thing you need to remember is to enjoy life in the best possible way, whatever that means to you!
Thanks so much for stopping by. Until next time – Take care gentlemen.
