The Green Suit: The Not-So-Serious but Classy Suit Style for Adventurous Gentlemen

Green Suit

While not as common as a navy or charcoal gray, the green suit can be compared to a khaki, beige, or brown suit.

As you know most men’s suits come in either navy, gray, blue, black or brown. However, for fashion-forward and adventurous men, green is a flexible choice that can be worn.

So, how do you wear a green suit? Let’s find out …

GREEN SUIT: STYLE RULES

  1. An olive green suit is the most versatile and can be paired with most neutral colors. If you ever choose to get your first green suit, start with this one.
  2. Avoid the green suit totally if you work in a strict office environment, keep your office outfit classic. Suits in the workplace are traditionally Navy Blue, Gray, Brown, Black and other similar shades, and variations of these basic colors.
  3. For certain kind of workplaces (such as in the Fashion, Branding or Entertainment industry) opt for neutral shades of green such as military greens (olive and khaki).
  4. Brighter shades of green work best as statement pieces and not as formal pieces. For instance, people in the business of hosting events such as MC’s and Comedians can decide to wear brighter shades of green to make a bold statement when they are on stage.

THE GREEN SUIT: SHIRT & SHOE TO MATCH

1.  Overall Look: Complement your green suit with a plain white shirt, a slim black tie, and a pair of a black dress shoe. You can also switch it to a brown tie, a brown dress shoe and still have a classy look that screams for attention.

2.   For Shoes: For dress shoes, go for either a brown shoe or a black shoe – Oxfords, Brogues or Monkstrap are the 3 basic shoe style options. Other shoe types include suede loafers, dress loafers, or even a white suit-appropriate sneakers (for a smart casual look).

3.   For Tie: Go for a brown tie color in plain or pattern, it works well with green all the time. Alternatively, you can skip the tie.

4.   For Shirt: White, Black or Light Brown (Plain or narrow patterns) shirts would pair well with this suit color.

5.   The Style Secret: It pairs well with brown accessories. You can never go wrong pairing it with a tie, bracelets, fashion ring, pocket square and a classy man bag to say the least.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Remember, this suit color is not for everyone. If you think it fits into your personal style, by all means, go for it, else avoid it completely. Overall, it is a great addition to a man’s wardrobe, but only for stylish gentlemen who are bold and confident enough to pull it off.

Keep it classy, gents!
