7 PRACTICAL SKILLS EVERY MAN SHOULD KNOW AND MASTER
Like brushing your teeth in the morning, some skills should be second nature to you. There are certain practical skills every man should know and master – and with practical skills, I mean manly skills. These are the things you need to learn to be able to get by every day.
Show me a woman who doesn’t like a man who is good at fixing things and I’ll show you a pathological liar.
Is it a broken furniture, changing the light bulb, unclogging the toilet or sink? I bet you know many of them but that is beside the fact, being able to do certain things at home won’t only get you extra points from the ladies but it helps make your life easier plus you save more money.
I don’t blame you if you disagree, not many men I know really like to do house chores. While you may have your own reason for not doing it, I still insist that there are some practical skills every man should know and master – this simply makes you a manly man, a complete gentleman.
Growing up, I watched my dad try to fix every broken thing in the house, the funny thing is he never was good at it. Still, he never gave up trying, he was persistent.
My mother praised him for always being thoughtful and appreciated his effort. Now that I think of it, he knew that his attempt at always trying to fix stuff in the house gave him extra points that benefitted him in many ways!
While it was fun to watch, I learned the importance of being a handyman and of course, a lifelong lesson that has been a motivation in my darkest days, ‘never stop trying’.
I’m not here to give a motivational speech today but to hint you on the important skills I personally think every man should know and master. Learning these skills as a man can come in handy whether you are single, married or living alone.
7 PRACTICAL SKILLS EVERY MAN SHOULD KNOW AND MASTER
Before I go into the details of practical skills every man should know, you will need a toolbox to be able to learn these skills. You can find one at any convenient store in the tools section. You should also watch videos online since you don’t have a firsthand knowledge of some of these skills. Good luck!
1. Electrical and Installation skills
Can you change a light bulb? Change a burnt plug or install a new wall socket? You don’t have to be an ‘expert’ or technician to do certain skills. I’m not telling you to get yourself electrocuted, lol.
However, there are some basic skills you can learn about, like fixing a new plug or installing a new switch but if you know how to do the more technical stuff, that’s a plus for you.
2. Mechanical skills
Every man should master this skill! Imagine driving on the road, on your way to an important meeting, you get on a bumpy road and bang, you get a flat tire. What do you do? I bet a lot of men have their mechanic on speed dial but think about it, why would you call your mechanic to fix a flat tire?
You don’t need to when you know how to.
See, save more and your life is easier! I bet you didn’t think of that one, the perks of being an avid reader of MR. KOACHMAN– one of the Top 100 Men’s Fashion And Style Blogs To Follow in 2018.
3. Cooking skills
This is very important.
If you love to eat good food, you should as well know how to make a mean breakfast, lunch or dinner. To those who know the benefits of knowing this skill will agree with me that nothing is more desirable than a man who knows how to cook. You would need this skill when you want to cook something delicious for your significant other, if not for her, then do it for your big appetite!
4. Carpentry skills
I’m not asking you to make a chair or a table, just fix the lock on the door or fix the hinges on the door to avoid them from scratching the floor – that noise is annoying to the ear. Fix what you think you can, just try!
Who knows, you could find pleasure in doing it and make it a stress reliever. I bet you didn’t think of that too, lol!
5. Plumbing skills
I have personal experience with this a lot, so I just have the tools ready when I notice the sink or toilet is clogged. Don’t want to get your hands dirty? It’s no different from trying to check the engine of your car.
6. Laundry and Ironing Skills
Drum roll, one of the practical skills every man should know and master is how to do the laundry and properly iron his clothes. No jokes guys, this is a very important skill. If you don’t know how to iron, you can watch videos online – you don’t have to ask your partner to iron a shirt for you. You don’t need me to tell you how to do your laundry too, right?
7. Construction Skills
You don’t have to know how to build a house or lay a brick, this is just one of the skills every man should know and master. Instead of calling a painter or a laborer to help you paint your room or cement your cracked walls, why not pick up the tools and do it yourself?
FINAL THOUGHTS
Once you’ve mastered the basic aspect of this skills, you will notice how your life will start to get a lot easier with these new changes, plus you will spend less. So why not stop at any store later today and get yourself some new tools.
You can also learn other skills or improve on the ones listed above, knowledge has never been a waste. I hope you agree?
Until you hear from me again, continue to do well, live well and dress really well. Please do acquire some practical skills!
