BEARD STYLES & GROOMING GUIDE
How I Learnt From God That He Intends All Males To Grow Beards
“A beard just makes any man look more like the Son of God.” – Anonymous.
Here is my Story!!
I was writing all through Saturday night till early hours of this Sunday morning, so I decided not to go to church this morning but rather to stay back home, have enough rest and wait till later in the evening before going to the salon to have a hair cut in preparation for the new week which starts tomorrow.
I initially thought the Devil was at work, I mean…how can I miss Sunday service again today?…but I didn’t know God had a different plan for me.
Fast forward to 4:30pm, I was up from bed & bored, so I dressed up and drove off to church for the 5pm evening service [last service for the day]. The sermon bordered on teachings of the Old Testament [Hardly do I hear old testament teachings these days in church], so frankly I wasn’t so much interested in the sermon, so I used the opportunity to just sit and browse through my Bible on my tablet, other chapters from the Book of the Old Testament which the priest was preaching from…and behold I found something really interesting. Wait for it….I’ll tell you all that later.
Long story cut short…
I left the church at the end of the 1 hour evening service and started heading to my barbing salon within my estate to have my routine once-a-week “beard cut” – I call it that because the concentration is usually on the beard. It takes just about 5-10 minutes to wrap up my hair cut and another 45 minutes to 1 hour to “pamper and groom” my beards.
As I drove back, I couldn’t help but ponder on the verse of the bible which I found while in church earlier. I never knew that verse –Leviticus 19:27 existed in the bible.
• Leviticus 19:27
Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or trim your beard.
It’s my first time of reading it and I was even more filled with joy and gladness when I cross referenced it with another scripture where King David commanded his people “Remain in Jericho until your beards have grown and then return!”, this was after one King humiliated David’s soldiers by shaving off their “precious” beards.
• 2 Samuel 10:5b
And the king said, “Remain at Jericho until your beards have grown and then return.”
I thought about it in another way, as Christians, we are meant to emulate Jesus Christ in every way we could and we all know that Jesus’ beard is one of the most famous beards ever and should be an inspiration for all of us who grow beards.
None of us could ever die and rise again after 3 days; none of us can actually raise the dead, but one way we can live like Jesus is by growing a full luxurious beard, just as he did.
I was happy to receive this revelation from the Lord God himself – that he wants us to grow beards and really frowns at us clipping off the edges of our beards.
So back at the hair salon…….
Here is the conversation that took place between me and my barber (Paul).
6:25pm – Paul: “Evening Boss”… he greeted me
6:25pm – Mr. Kobi: Evening Paul, how are you today? [as I sat down on the chair]
6:25pm – Paul: I’m alright boss!
6:30pm – Paul: [Silence] as he started cutting my hair [Paul is my favorite barber, he knows my hair style is constant [skin cut], however, he usually suggests beards style and have at one time refused to trim my beards after I asked him to, until I explained and pleaded, that I only want to trim it a bit in order not to create controversy at a business seminar I had the next day]
6:40pm – [Paul was done with the haircut and moved over to the “beard pampering session” without asking me any question about what I wanted, cos he already knew]
7:30pm – [Still total silence for the past 50 minutes, as I thought deeply about writing this article when I got home]
7:40pm – Thank You Paul [as I paid for the service with an extra tip just before leaving the salon]
As I left the barber’s shop, I continued thinking about those scriptures. It was as if scales fell off my eyes while on my way home, I saw a deeper meaning to those words, this truly inspired me to stay awake tonight to write this piece.
Before you criticize this guide, ask Abraham Lincoln who believes men must sport beards.
Alright Gentlemen, I sincerely hope I’ve been able to inspire a lot of you today to start growing your beards. My apologies if this article offends anyone or their beliefs, that’s not the intention.
