By  |

Every one of us gets in a low state of mind once in a while. All you have to do is to keep your head clear from negative thoughts and adopt self-motivation.

‘Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.’  — Jim Rohn

To be honest, being unable to motivate yourself can be quite challenging sometimes.

You may find yourself wishing you could motivate yourself more from the inside; that you had more motivation to do the extra work that would bring excellence or satisfaction.

Depression, fear, the lack of success in your chosen endeavor, lack of clarity about what you want, money problems etc… are some factors that kill motivation, energy, interest, and focus.

For some of us, our jobs are the place where we feel alive, the place where we can improve on ourselves. For others, it’s the quite opposite, the job you go to every single day is horror. It might be the coworkers or your boss. It doesn’t matter who or what is it. Hey, it might even be your job and tasks itself. You have no zeal anymore.

You might even be the boss of your company and you just feel so burnt out that the only thing you feel like doing is procrastinate all day. You just don’t have the drive to do things, you lack motivation.

What really is “motivation”?

By definition, motivation is a reason or reasons for acting or behaving in a particular way.
There are two types of reasons. Scientist calls them Intrinsic and Extrinsic. It’s pretty simple:

  • Intrinsic is the type of motivation that comes from love, and our own desire to do it.
  • Extrinsic is the motivation that comes when external factors come along like money or because your boss told you so.

But what happens when nothing motivates you, or there is no one that can?
You feel like nothing really depends on you, and there’s nothing that can be done.

If you find yourself lacking motivation sometimes, here are Three (3) Ways on How To Be More Self-Motivated even when you are on the verge of breaking down or given up.

How to Be More Self-Motivated

#1: Always Learn

Read books, talk with interesting people, acquire new hobbies. Leaving your brain in a state of not learning and self-improving will only make you less and less motivated. Knowledge, for myself, I’ve found to be the biggest motivator. Try it, you just can’t hate learning new things.

#2: Surround Yourself With Positive People

This is one of the keys to personal success. There is just some kind of energy that you can feed on when around positive people – people that talk about ideas, that have the drive and motivation in themselves. You just can never feel demotivated when around positive people.

Therefore, to be more self-motivated, you should surround yourself with positive people in the same industry, people as passionate as you. You will eventually become a product of the people who surround you.

#3: Be Positive

Hey, every one of us gets in a state like that. All you have to do and the most important of them all is keeping your head clear from negative thoughts.

Stay positive…Be Confident … Keep your head up and always carry yourself as if everything is okay. When you radiate a positive energy even when things are on the low, things will get better. Trust me on this one!
